GoDaddy Email: DMARC subdomain policy
Check inherited and explicit policy for a provider sending subdomain. Start with the exact domain, subdomain, and provider account that owns the route.
A provider configuration symptom may look like:
DMARC subdomain policy after a provider configuration change.
Find the effective policy
A subdomain can publish its own DMARC record. Otherwise it normally inherits the organizational domain policy, using sp= when that tag is present and p= when it is not.
Check before changing it
- Query
_dmarc.subdomain.example.com. - If no policy exists there, query
_dmarc.example.com. - Read
sp=andp=from the parent policy. - Verify legitimate mail from that subdomain before increasing enforcement.
MailFixIt reports the effective public policy. It cannot decide whether an unknown subdomain sender is legitimate without operational context.
Frequently asked questions
What does MailFixIt check for GoDaddy Email?
It helps compare public DNS evidence with the provider setup path. It does not access the provider account or claim that a DNS result alone proves sending or receiving.
Should I replace all existing DNS records with provider values?
No. Confirm the exact record owner and type, preserve unrelated legitimate services, and change only the record required for the intended mail route.
